RCTC Camp

For 2 days, 1 night, I was in the Wu Kwai Sha Campground between Ma On Shan and Wu Kai Sha. The parade grounds we were training on were right next to the sea [Tolo Harbour], so we could feel the sea. On the first day, we met at Admirality MTR station and took a coach to the campground. Before, we were supposed to go hiking with approx. 20 kg (40 lbs.) on our backs in Sai Kung. At the last moment, they canceled it (HORRAY!). Instead, we foot-drilled for most of the morning. At night, we had a BBQ, where we made food for the officers [couldn't eat it ourselves!] took 2 1/2 minute showers (CRAZY!!), I didn't get any time to use my shampoo and other cleaning items. I was soaking wet when I came out with 7 seconds remaining.

--"NightLife and EarlyMorningLife"--

At midnight, all lights were off, if any lights were seen from flashlights/mobile phones, we would have been killed by 100 (non-stop) push-ups/other exercises. At 4:00, we woke up and started our NightGuard shifts (looking around for burgulars), I barely had 3 hours of sleep before. At the same time, it started to rain, we went a few rounds around the campground and were awake, well, not everybody, only me. Everybody else went to sleep while I was polishing my boots. My older cousin, mentioned in an earlier post was so funny, she didn't sleep at all that night and slept at around 6:00 (Only 1 hour to sleep).

It stopped raining after 6:10. (Nothing Interesting During The Following Hours.....). Then I went to Ma On Shan KCR and finally got home. So sleepy......I have school tomorrow.

Gong Hei Fat Choy 恭喜發財!

Happy Chinese New Year! It's been a busy week. At 9:00 Chinese New Year's Eve, we went to my uncle's temporary shop in Che Kung Temple. They were selling windmills (see picture on the right). For 3 days, they barely had any sleep, their only goal was to sell. Then, on Monday, I went to my grandpa and grandma's houses (both parents) in Tai Po. That day, I got 19 red packets. Then, on Tuesday, we were planning to go to Shamshuipo, but, my uncle suddenly called us. My aunt was in a car accident. My dad rushed to Che Kung Temple to see my uncle and know what happened. My aunt wasn't hurt, only the car was damaged, the tire fell off. She was a bit tired and was thinking about something else when she turned. Finally, yesterday, I went to my dad's friend's house. They have a "teacup poodle", it was so energetic and looked such like a toy bear (see picture below). It's name was Lulu.
Today, we just got a call from a friend of ours from America, they had come to HK to visit during the Chinese New Year Holidays. Tomorrow, we'll meet them in Shatin. Also, I'll have to go to meet with my Air Cadets Section Leader, she has to check if I have everything ready for our RCTC camp this coming Saturday and Sunday. Until my next post, bye (If I survive RCTC, haha).

Hong Kong Disneyland

HK Disneyland was ok. It wasn't that great nor that horrible. The area was small, so there were less attractions. There was a ticket pass called FastPass, it wasn't very useful. You still have to stand in line, only, not as long as the non-FastPass people. On one of the rides called Autopia, we had to wait for 1 hour!! The worst part was, the attraction was not avaliable with FastPass. While I was driving, I kept on stopping at various places, my mom was driving too slowly! So, I stopped for a while, and when she was out of sight, I went at full speed. Autopia was a good, despite the waiting line. We also went to another attraction, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, where you had to use laser guns to hit targets (robots). I got a low score (Level 2), my dad was slightly better (Level 3). Guess who got the highest score in our family. My sister!! She was Level 4 at this attraction. Finally, we left, it was 4:00-5:00. We had been there for around 6 hours. We rode the double-decker omnibus (see picture, courtesy of Hong Kong Travel) back to the entrance. It was so slow, at a rate of 3 mph (4 km/h)!! There are many other possible attractions coming to Disneyland. If you are visiting Hong Kong, I recommend you to visit Ocean Park instead of Disneyland.

Possible Attractions in Adventureland:
Pirates of the Caribbean - Pirates of the Caribbean was originally believed to take the format already created at Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at other Disney Theme Parks and mixed with the Splash Mountain format, creating a dark ride with a log flume. Pirates will be given an entire subland themed to Port Royal. However, recent articles [2] have indicated that a more traditional version of the attraction will be used, albeit based closely on the film of the same name.
Fantasmic! - A semi-circular lagoon will front the new Pirates area, and it will be used for the pirates version of Fantasmic!.
Haunted Mansion - Will be featured in the Pirates subarea with an exterior more along the lines of the original with a pirates based story. It will likely open two years after pirates.
Raging Spirits - A clone of the Tokyo DisneySea roller coaster with the same name. Slated to open in 2007.

Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps POP

HONG KONG ISLAND WING ANNUAL PARADE
INSPECTION BY MR. EDWIN W C LAU AE, HONORARY TREASURER
AT THE HONG KONG AUXILIARY POLICE HEADQUARTERS
12 WANG CHIU ROAD, KOWLOON BAY
AT 15:00 HOURS SUNDAY, 11TH FEBRUARY 2007
So tired!!!!! Today, I had my annual Air Cadets Hong Island Wing POP (Passing Out Parade). I nearly got in trouble, I was 25 minutes late, Kowloon Bay is such a confusing place!!!!!! We had 2 rehearsals, each was 1 hour and 30 minutes long!!! We were standing/foot-drilling for 3-4 hours without any break in between!!!! At 2:30 we had lunch, a horrible one made by the people of the Police Headquarters. Then, after the nasty lunch, we went to the parade grounds and did "Attention" for nearly 30 minutes and waited for the parents/spectators to arrive. The whole day was quite smooth despite the Corporals/Officers "barking" at us. The pictures will be uploaded when they are avaliable on the HKACC Website. This year's parade was similar to the POP 2004, to see those photos, click here. Finally, today (21 February), I've gotten the pictures. You can't see me in the pictures because I was in 104 Squadron, too many people in my Squadron. The people wearing the different berets are my corporals, sirs, and ma'ams.

Above: Quick March, in front, is my corporal

Above: My Squadron, 1** is the Best!

Above: Squadron Picture Again (During this time, I was lost in Kowloon Bay Telford Gardens)

My Sister's Birthday

Today is my sister's birthday, she turned 6 years old. For her birthday today, we'll go to the Pizza Hut in Sha Tin (New Town Plaza III). The Pizza Hut here is worth your money, all pizzas have cheese inside the crust. It's Awsome! Today is a popular day for birthdays, in my school, there are 2 other kids that have birthdays today. One in my class and the other one in Grade 3. Also, possibly, next week, we'll go to HK Disneyland. A co-worker of my dad's, the one that got married on 1/1 she has some special tickets that were half-price. She plans to give them to us. It's worth going to Disneyland if it's half-price ignoring the fact that HK Disneyland is so small and crowded (see map below). We might take the MTR Disneyland Resort Line (see picture on right), inside each compartment are mickey mouse shaped handles, windows and more. One last thing before I go, this Sunday is my annual Passing Out Parade as mentioned in my earlier post. As always, all these activites will be on my photo album, click here to access it.
